Oak Frame Extensions FAQs

How much does an oak frame extension typically cost in the UK?

In the UK, oak-framed structures are generally considered a premium building option, with costs varying, depending on multiple factors, including size, complexity and site conditions. Typical costs tend to range from £2,000 to £3,000 per m2.

Many oak frame extensions are allowed under ‘right to a permitted development.’ However, before you build an extension, it’s important to complete your due diligence to make sure your extension complies with all of the relevant regulations, standards and planning requirements (if required). We can advise and help you with this.

Due to the fact there are so many different variables involved (size, project requirements, site conditions, etc.) design and installation time varies from project-to-project. For a standard small project, a frame can take a week to make and two days to erect.

Green oak has a high moisture content, making it easier to cut and shape and ideal for traditional timber framing, beams and large structural projects. As it dries over time, the oak naturally shrinks and hardens, making it even stronger.

Timber frame buildings are not as expensive as you may initially think – the costs are comparative to a traditional build, plus the end result is highly attactive, sustainable and built to last.

Yes, they can. We excel at designing and building bespoke oak extensions that blend seamlessly with our clients’ properties and instantly add value, character and prestige.
